You know Andy Serkis mostly from Lord of the Rings series, he is our precious Gollum and when it comes to War for the Planet of the Apes, he is our rebel Caesar. According to a statement made by Andy Serkis at a New York Comic-Con panel, War for the Planet of the Apes movie is getting a video game adaptation for consoles and he will be performing motion capture.
"The game will be like a interactive movie and will launch around the same time as the movie.
I don’t think it’s ever been done before. We created it at the Imaginarium, which is my studio. Without giving too much away about it, it’s not like a first-person shooter. It feels like an interactive movie. And that’s all I can say other than that it will be coming out around the same time as the movie. It’s a companion piece, it’s not based on the characters from this movie."
We can say that movie adaptations are not that satisfying to us gamers --but since they are coming at the same time and the game will be out as an interactive movie, we can hope, I guess. Can we ride horses while playing as Caesar? We'll see.
War for the Planet of the Apes movie is scheduled for release on July 14, 2017.
